The bow was an essential element of the Conquest Mongol arsenal. The geometry of this Mariner design was inspired by the bow used by Kublai Khan in the famous Yuan Dynasty (1271--1368 AD) painting Kublai Khan on the Hunt, as well as by excavated bows dating to the period. It features a short working section and slightly forward-swept tips.
